Update: The patient advocate from CityAmbulance did contact me the same day as my review posted to review my previous calls and their actions. She assured me that my docs provided that day would be resubmitted to the VA for payment the following Tuesday. I appreciated her follow up call and hope these final actions will resolve this issue.

Original post: Do not support this ambulatory transport service company. They refuse to complete the necessary paperwork for insurance claims. Their inability to manage their own paperwork forces the patient to do their legwork on their own or are forced to pay the bill. This includes working with the VA on requested documents. They are NOT doing their job in the best interest of the VET!

The 2 EMT’s that responded to my call for an ambulance were very quick, very courteous, comforting, they saw how upset I was and made jokes and did everything to calm me down. They were very thorough professional and I felt very safe with them!

Don’t ever use this service. They only care about the money. The don’t care about the patients or employees. If you are working a 48 hour shift don’t expect any breaks and to be awake for 48 hours. How does that make patients feel a provider barely awake. City ambulance does not care about the patients or the employees, they only want the money. Think about that. Andre seems to not care about patient safety. And if you as an employee request a break it’s off the clock in a random hotel room.

The 1st incident was when they arrived late to pick us up for my daughter's appt, but that wasn't even the problem. One of the crew members had an attitude with me as if it had been MY fault they were late, like they didn't even want to take us anymore. Then she was so pushy about getting a blanket for my daughter, talking about it's cold in the ambulance. I've been doing this for years, we've been in many ambulances, I know better than anyone what my daughter needs and what she can handle. Then she mentioned the car seat (still being rude) but I had been told before it was ok if my daughter just sat on the stretcher, so idk why she made it seem like it was wrong. Last, she asked why we needed the transport to the appt (I know it's asked with whatever stuff they input in their tablets) but she could've explained why she was asking that and she should've asked respectfully. The 2nd incident it was a team of 3 women and when I saw them arrive to pick us up they didn't pull up to get us, just had us waiting there. When we got to the hospital we were cutting it close to the appt time but had to wait for the driver to finish her personal phone call so we could be let out. Then, when we were out the ambulance we had to wait now on the woman sitting on the passenger side to finish doing God knows what and get off the ambulance so we could finally go inside. She had us waiting a while, so unprofessional and disrespectful.

Moved me from HCA Hospital to Houston VA Hospital. Driver must have been in a hurry, because he hit every bump in the road. I was bounced up and down in the gurney hard all the way to Houston At one point the tech in the back told him to watch the bumps, which he didn’t. I’d like to know how they can charge for all the EKGs when the patient is bouncing around so much. Don’t use, not professional

Very sad. I was leaving target in beaumont, texas. I noticed this ambulance driver parked in handicap about to walk in target with another co worker. I told him he would get a ticket for parking there and his response was it didnt matter because he knew the police officers.

Train your employees to put up the bed rails on a patient with a brain injury. My husband was dropped off at a facility, no bed rails up, no nurse in the room to take over care. My security camera caught it all. I had to call the facility on my way there and have them attend to him. They didn't even know he was back at the facility.
Good thing he didn't roll or fall off the bed. I would be owning this service.
Also a complaint will be filled.

This company transported my mother from one hospital to another yesterday evening. As soon as the ride began, hot air and vehicle fumes began flowing into the ambulance, making the air unbreathable. My mother was hospitalized for pneumonia, so having no A/C and hot, disgusting fumes flowing into the vehicle is unacceptable, especially in summer in Houston. My mother asked the operators to turn around and go back to the hospital she started at and they ignored her. Instead, the tech in the back end was on the phone with someone at the company who told the crew they'd fix it later. The owner clearly knew there was a problem. The crew indicated the owner was trying to "stretch it out a few more days." This is entirely unacceptable, and we'll be filing complaints with the insurance company, the state, and CMS. The owners/operators should be ashamed of themselves for subjecting incredibly sick people to such deplorable conditions.
